English Leather Spiced Cologne

Those of you who pine for the way Old Spice used to smell 30 or 40 years ago need to get a bottle of English Leather Spiced Cologne.  This juice smells very much like earlier versions of Old Spice, and is just about as good.

Like Old Spice, this has that sweet, powdery vanilla biscuit type base notes, along with spices and sandalwood in the heart of the fragrance.  Spiced Cologne is definitely a sweet scent, yet it smells plenty mascluine, due to it also having the smell of barbershop talcum powder.  It's the smell of walking out of a real barbershop right after getting a haircut and a shave.

Where this differs from Old Spice is that it's more complex and spicier.  Spicy notes like cinnamon and clove are more noticeable in Spiced Cologne than Old Spice, making this smell kind of like Jaipur Homme blended with shaving cream.

English Leather Spiced Cologne is a beautiful and perfectly balanced scent.  Like Old Spice, it gives you a warm, overall sense of well being.  It's not the easiest fragrance to find, and I'm not sure if it's been discontinued, but if you look online you'll find a few sites that sell new bottles for dirt cheap.  It's worth the effort.

MY RATING:  8/10

Fragrance House:  MEM

  1. Yes this is good stuff, and it does smell like a vintage Shulton bottle of Old Spice my grandpa had(I now have it and it's full:).

  2. You should be getting paid by these old school fragrance companies. I have bought a few based on your recommendations and have been very impressed.

  3. I assume you managed to track down a bottle of this stuff?

  4. Yes, my bottle looks different, but I believe it's the same fragrance.

  5. I know it's been a few years since this was written, but did you ever do a side by side smell test with English Leather Spiced and the current Old Spice Classic Cologne in the atomizer bottle by P&G? It smells very similar.
